Guitars Built by Players, for Players.

Founded by guitarist and musician George Jacobs, Jacobs Guitars was created from a simple idea: a great guitar should be built for the person who is going to play it.

George Jacobs is a player first and a guitar builder second. That philosophy is at the heart of everything we do. Rather than building instruments simply to put a name on a headstock, we build guitars with the working musician in mind—guitars designed to sound great, feel great, perform reliably, and inspire the player every time they pick them up.

Our guitars are built in the USA, using quality components and hardware, and every instrument receives personal attention before it reaches its new owner. George personally tests the guitars he builds because the final test isn’t simply whether a guitar looks beautiful on a stand. The real test is what happens when a musician plugs it in and starts playing

THE GEORGE JACOBS PHILOSOPHY

We believe that musicians should not have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to own a professionally built guitar. The guitar industry is filled with large manufacturers, advertising campaigns, celebrity endorsements, and expensive branding. At George Jacobs HandBuilt Guitars, we take a different approach. We put the guitar first. Instead of spending enormous amounts of money marketing a name, our goal is to put more of that value into the instrument itself. Our philosophy is simple:

Build a great guitar.
Use quality components.
Make it playable.
Make it sound great.
Stand behind it.
Let the guitar speak for itself. Word of mouth is important to us because a satisfied player is one of the best advertisements any guitar builder can have. When a musician picks up a Jacobs guitar and says, “This guitar plays and sounds incredible,” that means more to us than a billboard ever could.

Why Choose
Jacobs Guitars

BUILT BY A MUSICIAN

George Jacobs isn’t someone who simply decided to manufacture guitars.

George has spent decades as a musician, guitarist, recording artist, and working player. That experience has influenced the way Jacobs guitars are designed, assembled, modified, and tested.

George doesn’t build guitars simply to display them.

He plays them.

He uses the guitars he builds in his own music and recordings, putting them through the same situations that musicians experience every day—clean tones, overdriven tones, high-gain sounds, rhythm work, lead playing, bends, vibrato, sustained notes, fast passages, and everything in between.

That real-world experience matters.

A guitar can look spectacular in photographs and still disappoint a player.

We believe the opposite should be true:

The guitar should look amazing—but it must play amazing.

HANDMADE VS. HANDCRAFTED

At Jacobs Guitars, we recognize that there are different levels of craftsmanship involved in building an instrument, and we are proud to offer both HandMade and HandCrafted guitars.

Our HandMade guitars involve extensive hands-on work, including working the wood and neck by hand. These instruments represent an especially personal level of craftsmanship and can involve more time-intensive construction. Our HandCrafted guitars are manufactured in the USA using modern precision methods, including CNC machining where appropriate, and are then assembled, finished, modified, set up, and carefully inspected.

Modern technology and traditional craftsmanship don’t have to compete with each other. We believe they can work together. Precision machinery can help achieve consistency, while the experienced hands of a builder and musician can transform those components into a finished instrument with personality, playability, and character.

A great guitar is more than a beautiful piece of wood.

Every component contributes to the final instrument.

That is why we pay close attention to the hardware, electronics, pickups, neck, fretwork, setup, and overall construction.

Jacobs guitars can be equipped with respected pickup systems from manufacturers such as Fishman, Seymour Duncan, and DiMarzio, while many Jacobs instruments also feature Jacobs HandWound Pickups. Players can also discuss pickup options and special configurations when ordering a custom instrument.

Our philosophy is not that one pickup, bridge, tuner, or piece of hardware is automatically right for every musician.

You choose the sound you want.

Different players have different hands, different styles, different amplifiers, different music, and different ideas about what a guitar should sound like.

That’s why customization is such an important part of the Jacobs Guitars philosophy.

QUALITY COMPONENTS

CUSTOM GUITARS

One of the most exciting things about building guitars is that no two musicians are exactly alike. Some players want a traditional instrument. Others want something completely different. Some want a particular neck shape.
Some want a specific pickup combination.
Some want unusual woods.
Some want a particular bridge or tremolo system.
Some want a vintage-inspired appearance.
Some want a modern performance instrument.
Some want something nobody else has. That’s where a custom Jacobs guitar comes in. We work with players who have a specific vision for their instrument and want to create something that fits their playing style and personality.

A custom guitar can be about appearance, electronics, hardware, neck specifications, body design, woods, finishes, scale length, pickup configuration, or a combination of many different elements.

The objective is always the same: Build the guitar around the player.

VINTAGE CHARACTER -
MODERN PERFORMANCE

We love the character of vintage guitars.

Old wood, worn finishes, classic designs, familiar shapes, and the history associated with instruments from earlier generations all have a special place in guitar culture.

But we also understand that today’s musicians demand modern performance.

That’s why Jacobs Guitars can combine the visual character and personality of classic instruments with modern components, electronics, hardware, and playability.

Our Barncaster-style instruments, for example, can incorporate exceptionally old wood, with some builds using wood described as decades or even centuries old.

The result can be a guitar that looks like it has a story before you even play the first chord—while still being built as a working musical instrument.

THE SETUP MATTERS...

A guitar can have beautiful wood, expensive pickups, and premium hardware and still be disappointing if it isn’t properly set up.

That’s why setup and playability are such important parts of the Jacobs Guitars process.

The relationship between the neck, frets, strings, bridge, pickups, action, intonation, and electronics all contributes to how an instrument feels and responds.

Our goal is to deliver an instrument that encourages you to play.

You shouldn’t have to fight the guitar.

You should be able to pick it up, plug in, and concentrate on the music.

We don’t believe there is one perfect guitar for every musician.

A blues player may want something completely different from a metal player.

A studio guitarist may prioritize versatility.

A touring musician may prioritize reliability.

A lead guitarist may want sustain and fast playability.

A rhythm guitarist may want punch, clarity, and responsiveness.

A collector may be looking for something visually unique.

A songwriter may simply want an instrument that makes them want to write.

The right guitar is the guitar that makes you want to play.

That’s the standard we chase.

EVERY GUITAR HAS A PURPOSE

BUILT FOR THE STAGE. BUILT FOR THE STUDIO. BUILT FOR YOU.

Jacobs guitars are designed with real musicians in mind. They can be used in the studio, on stage, at rehearsals, in the practice room, or simply sitting at home writing the next song. George Jacobs personally uses the guitars he builds in his own recordings, giving the instruments a real-world test beyond simply assembling them and putting them up for sale.

That is an important part of our identity. We aren’t interested in building guitars that merely look good in a catalog. We build guitars that are meant to make music.

PERSONAL ATTENTION

We believe buying a guitar should be a personal experience. When you purchase a Jacobs guitar, you’re not simply purchasing an anonymous product from a giant production line. You’re connecting with a builder who understands what it means to be a guitarist.

Questions matter.

Your playing style matters. Your preferred sound matters. Your expectations matter. If you’re looking for something specific, we want to understand what you’re trying to accomplish with the instrument. And when the guitar is finished, George personally tests the instrument before it goes to the player.

automatically attaching the enormous price tag that often comes with famous names. We believe players should be paying for:

Craftsmanship.
Materials.
Components.
Playability.
Sound.
Attention to detail.

Not simply for advertising. Our approach is straightforward: build quality instruments and offer them directly to musicians at prices that provide real value.

We don’t believe a guitar has to cost several thousand dollars to become a serious musical instrument.

A great player can make great music on many different guitars.

Our job is to make sure the Jacobs guitar gives that player an instrument they can be proud to own and excited to play.

VALUE WITHOUT THE HYPE

QUALITY YOU CAN HEAR

Ultimately, specifications only tell part of the story.

The real measure of a guitar is the sound.

The first chord.

The first bend.

The first sustained note.

The way the guitar responds to your hands.

The way the pickups react to your amplifier.

The way the neck feels when you move up the fretboard.

The way the instrument inspires you to keep playing.

That’s where a guitar becomes more than wood, metal, electronics, and strings.

It becomes your instrument.

WHY JACOBS GUITARS?

Because we’re musicians.

Because we understand that a guitar is personal.

Because we believe craftsmanship matters.

Because we believe quality doesn’t have to be overpriced.

Because we believe modern technology and hands-on craftsmanship can work together.

Because we believe customization gives players the opportunity to own something truly personal.

Because George Jacobs plays the guitars he builds.

And because, at the end of the day, we believe in one simple philosophy:

OUR COMMITMENT

Our commitment is simple:

Build it right.

Build it to play.

Build it to sound great.

Build it with quality components.

Test it personally.

Give musicians real value.

Stand behind the instrument.

We understand that when someone buys a guitar, they are putting their trust in the builder.

We don’t take that lightly.

Every Jacobs guitar carries the name of the person who founded the company and believes strongly in what the instrument represents.

George Jacobs.
